A Grand Choral Concert Dedicated to Maestro Raimonds Pauls to Take Place on July 11, 2026, in Mežaparks “Sidraba Birzs”
On July 11, 2026, a monumental choral music concert celebrating the work of Maestro Raimonds Pauls will be held in the “Sidraba Birzs” of Mežaparks Grand Stage in Riga, Latvia.
The event will bring together 12,000 choir singers, chief conductors of the Latvian Song and Dance Festival, renowned soloists, the Latvian Radio Big Band, and other acclaimed musicians for a spectacular concert showcasing choral compositions by Raimonds Pauls alongside his most beloved melodies interpreted by various arrangers.
This exceptional event will serve as a unique tribute to the artistic legacy and emotional power of Raimonds Pauls’ music, uniting Latvians both in their homeland and across the globe. For over five decades, Maestro music has inspired and empowered the Latvian nation and has become an integral element of its cultural identity.
The concert programme will feature iconic compositions such as Svētvakars (Sacred Evening), Tautasdziesma (Folk Song), Teic, kur zeme tā (Tell Me, Where Is That Land), and Manai dzimtenei (For My Homeland), as well as arrangements of Latvian folk songs and new choral adaptations of Maestro Pauls’ works created especially for this event. Following the concert, audience members will be invited to participate in a special sing-along night, performing some of Raimonds Pauls’ most popular songs together.
The concert will feature distinguished soloists and the Latvian Radio Big Band performing Raimonds Pauls’ music. Choirs from Latvia and the Latvian diaspora are invited to join the grand combined choir. The musical direction of the combined choir is entrusted to the most esteemed choral conductors in Latvia, including Song Festival chief conductors: Mārtiņš Klišāns, Māris Sirmais, Aira Birziņa, Jurģis Cābulis, Romāns Vanags, Sigvards Kļava, Ints Teterovskis, Ilze Valce, Jānis Ozols, and Kaspars Ādamsons.
